Pastor

Tim Smith

I was introduced to Christ by my parents and as a child I accepted HIM as my Lord and Savior. Upon graduation from High School, I enlisted into the Air Force and later became a Commissioned Officer.  I look back now and realize God used my Air Force career as a catalyst for professional development and spiritual growth.  One of my Air Force assignments moved my family and me to the Montgomery, Alabama area where we joined a local church.  It was during this time I went on a mission trip to the Czech Republic and after returning felt God’s call into the ministry.  In obedience to that call,  in 2005 I was licensed and ordained in the Gospel Ministry and enrolled into seminary.  The Air Force eventually moved us again and I simultaneously performed my military duty and served as the Youth Pastor at Trinity Baptist in Vacaville, California.  Yet another assignment led us to Kleine Brogel, Belgium where there was no full time, English-speaking pastor.  Realizing God had given me another opportunity to minister, I became the Unit Chaplain in addition to being the Deputy Commander.  In 2011 I gave up my combat boots for full-time ministry.  Since retiring from the Air Force, I have served as Associate Pastor at Thelma Baptist Church, Wetumpka, AL and now I have the honor and very great privelage of serving as Pastor to the awesome people of First Baptist Church Reeltown. I have been married to my awesome wife Dawn for 28 years and we have one son, Zach, who is 23 years old and is a recent graduate of Auburn University.

A funny little fact about me is that Camels give me the creeps.  Just look at them!  They have this weird “I can’t be trusted look about them!”  I love anything to do with the outdoors and agriculture.  I enjoy hunting, fishing, the lake and playing in the dirt.

The things I treasure the most are God’s grace and the love of my beautiful wife and awesome son. I’m honored to be the Chaplain for the Reeltown Rebels Football Team.  I love the drive of the student athletes and the opportunity to spend time with them and the chance to pour into them.

My favorite Scripture is:

Revelation 3:8 (NLT)  8 “I know all the things you do, and I have opened a door for you that no one can close. You have little strength, yet you obeyed my word and did not deny me.

Take the time in this busy life to know God’s will for you.  How has HE wired you?  What are you good at? What are your Spiritual gifts? What has HE given you a passion to do?  Once you understand these things I believe our lives are a lot more focused .  It’s easier to say “yes” to what’s really important and say “no” to the things that aren’t.

Associate Pastor

Nicholas Stockdale

Hello all, I am Nic Stockdale. I currently serve as the Small Groups Minister at FBCR. I have been married to my wife Audrey, for 13 years. We have two children, Maddie (11) and Macon (7). I have a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Faulkner University and have been employed at Auburn University in the Plant Breeding Unit for the past 9 years. A funny fact about myself is that I am probably the most competitive person you’ll ever meet. From football and softball to card games and bowling, I enjoy a friendly competition. If you don’t believe me, just check out the Kickball Trophy in the church library! I enjoy the great outdoors. I like hunting, fishing, camping, farming, spontaneous dates with my wife, and playing with my kids. I enjoy spending time with my wife and kids at home playing board games, family movie nights, Ninja Turtles, and yes, Maddie even gets me to play Barbies every now and then. I also enjoy yard work and am pretty crafty at building my wife the things she pins on her Pinterest. I enjoy coaching the kids in sports and being active in their extracurricular activities. I am an avid hunter and serve on the Tallapoosa County NWTF committee.

I believe one of my greatest accomplishments was convincing Audrey to marry me. Our lives together have brought countless memories, experiences, and two little blessings that call me Daddy. I’m grateful that the Lord has allowed us to share our lives together.  I am immensely blessed to be a servant of Christ first and her husband second.

One of my favorite passages is James 3:17-18.  But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere. 18 And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness. (NLT)

I have always enjoyed working in children’s ministry, but in 2015, the Lord started tugging at my heart to begin ministering to adults. In the Fall of 2015, Audrey and I began a marriage small group at FBCR. After that, we began a young adult small group, The Whipper Snappers. God really moved in my life and kept calling me to surrender completely to him. I felt the call to full-time ministry in 2016, and answered the Lord’s call to preach. I began seminary at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in Fall 2016. The Lord has worked in amazing ways through the small group ministry at FBCR! There has been an abundance of spiritual growth in individual and families’ lives this past year. The discipleship and commitment to serving our community and beyond within these groups has spread like wild fire in Reeltown. If you are not attending a small group at FBCR, I encourage you to give me a call and I will be glad to help lead you to a group where you can be spiritually fed! #RC3

“Love People, Live Jesus” Every day, my prayer is that I put others’ needs above my own, love people well, and live each day surrendered to my Savior.
